Born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Aileen Harvey started painting in the Richmond area around ten years ago. She began her journey towards a career as an artist by studying watercolours, but it wasn’t until she moved to pastels that her creativity began to flourish.

Aileen began using pastel pencils for landscapes and animals, as her style developed she gravitated towards soft pastels. In this new medium, her portraits came alive. The depth made possible with this medium allowed her to express her love of animals in her award-winning style.

As a member of The Association of Animal Artists, and with over 10 years’ experience in animal portraits, Aileen consistently creates life-like portraits with unique characters. If you’re interested in improving your pastel painting, or know someone who is, check out our Workshops page.
